Arc raiders have done something incredible but also important…

Summary
Embark Studios Arc Raiders has made a major impact on the gaming industry, reaching over 12 million players. The game challenges traditional AAA pricing by offering a high quality experience at $40, making it more accessible and influencing other developers. It has redefined the extraction shooter-looter genre, attracted players who normally avoid multiplayer games, and retained a loyal player base. With polished gameplay, abundant content, and innovative community design that blends PvE and PvP interactions, Arc Raiders sets a new standard for AAA games and player engagement.
Embark Studios has just recently confirmed that they have gained over 12 million players, and this number is important because what this really shows is how Embark Studios have completely done some huge things in the industry.
Changed how players are perceiving price in a AAA game
As of writing, Arc Raiders can be purchased flat for $40, and that doesn't account for the game going on sale (which the game regularly does, btw), and this is significant for a big reason.
Pricing in the triple A scene over the past 5 years has been a very heated topic, and whilst the arguments for whether games should or shouldn't rise is a topic in and of itself Arc Raiders being available for such a fantastic price does a few things.
One allows players to get in the door cheaper.
And two makes other developers see how effective a lesser-costing product can be.
changed how people view the extraction shooter looter genre.
Now this is without a doubt one of the most impressive feats Embark Studios have managed. They have not only made a huge splash into the extraction shooter looter genre, which is notorious for being a hard market to do well in, but they have even managed to get people who ordinarily wouldn't even touch this genre with a 10ft pole to love this genre now.
changed how people view multiplayer gaming.
Now this is an interesting one but an important one to note: Arc Raiders has also, whilst managing to bring in people who have never played the extraction shooter looter genre before, managed to also just straight up bring over people who don't like or don't touch multiplayer games ever.
And also, it is impressively to note, as seen by the player counts (over 90% of the games' player base since launch has stuck around), THEY HAVE MANAGED TO KEEP THEM!
Changed what people expect from AAA games
It is safe to say many AAA games now can release either unfinished or completely unfinished, but Arc Raiders, whilst being incredibly fun, has also released in just a fantastic state from both a gameplay and technical standpoint.
Whilst of course glitches and bugs do exist, the game is well optimised and runs fantastically and also, from a content perspective, has a fantastic amount of stuff to do and offer in the future.
And this game without a doubt has been doing and will continue to change what people expect from AAA games, as people can use Arc Raiders as the benchmark of what a gamer deserves!
Changed how people interact with other gamers in games
The most interesting part of this game is without a doubt the community and community interactions, and if you can tell by just the clips and videos alone, the community in this game is fantastic, and it has absolutely changed the way people interact with others in games.
Usually in most games you would have separate servers or separate modes, one for PvP or one for PvE, but thanks to the way Embark have designed this game, all types of players mix and mesh, and what that creates is a community that has learnt how to interact in ways we haven't seen too often, if ever, in the gaming sphere.
A NOTE TO LEAVE ON
We here at Inviox just want to say how incredible the work is that the folks over at Embark Studios have done. From not only creating a genre-defying game but also pushing the boundaries creatively. We here at Inviox not only strive for the best, but we also try to push the boundaries of what games can be and what we can do creatively, so it's always beautiful to see another studio do the same!
